Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What can I expect from TeachItRight?
A: From the beginning, we take the time to understand your child as a learner — not just the subject they need help with. Every student begins with an individualized Success Plan built around their strengths, learning needs and goals. Their educator then uses this as a starting point to plan meaningful, one-to-one teaching and continues to adjust their approach as they get to know your child. You are kept connected along the way through session debriefs and Growth Updates, so you always know what your child is working on, how they are progressing and where we are going next.
Q: Who are the educators at TeachItRight?
A: We are highly selective about who we trust to work with TeachItRight families. Our teacher programs are delivered by Ontario Certified Teachers who bring professional teaching experience, curriculum knowledge and the ability to adapt instruction to the individual student. For our Special Education Program, we look specifically for teachers with relevant experience supporting diverse learners and more complex learning needs. We also carefully select university students for students who need strong, consistent academic support without the specialized expertise of a certified teacher. Across every program, we look for educators who are knowledgeable, dependable and, just as importantly, able to build a strong connection with the student in front of them.
Q: How do you decide who is the right educator for my child?
A: We don't believe a great match can be made from a grade level and postal code alone. Before we begin, we take the time to understand your child's learning needs, strengths, goals, personality and the kind of support that may work best for them. We then consider each educator's experience, teaching strengths, approach, location and availability. The goal is not simply to find an educator. It is to find the educator we believe is best positioned to help your child learn, grow and feel successful.
Q: How long does it take to be matched with an educator?
A: Once your matching process begins, please allow up to 10 business days for us to find the right educator for your child. This gives us the time to thoughtfully consider your child's needs, connect with potential educators and put forward a match we feel confident in. We'll keep you updated throughout the process, so you know where things stand and what to expect next.
Q: What if I'm not sure what kind of support my child needs?
A: You don't need to have the answer before you call us. Helping you figure that out is part of what we do. You may simply know that homework has become a battle, your child is losing confidence, school is becoming harder, they need more individualized teaching, or something just isn't clicking. Start by telling us what you are seeing. We'll ask the right questions, learn more about your child and help you understand which level of support makes the most sense. You don't need to diagnose the problem before reaching out. You just need a place to start.
